Entre totes les persones noves d’aquest curs 2024-2025, està en Christian, més conegut pels amics com Opoku. Ell és un nen que ha vingut recentment a Catalunya des de Ghana, perquè aquí hi viuen el seu pare i el seu germà, i aquí pot estudiar per viure una millor vida.
Ell ens explica que, tot i que la seva experiència per adaptar-se no ha sigut dolenta, tampoc ha sigut perfecte. El país li sembla un lloc agradable, amb un bon ambient i persones amigables. No obstant això, no se sent del tot còmode; ha conegut algú que, després de viure aquí durant sis mesos, no va acabar d’adaptar-s i se’n va tornar. Ell no vol que això li ocorri a ell.
En comparació amb Ghana, en Christian nota grans diferències. Ens explica que aquí, tot està més organitzat i net, mentre que al seu país, malgrat tenir aspectes positius, les infraestructures necessiten millores. També ha percebut que, tot i que Ghana és ric en recursos naturals com l’or, molts ciutadans pateixen dificultats econòmiques a causa d’una mala gestió i l’explotació externa, especialment per part d’empreses estrangeres.
El canvi d’entorn ha sigut significatiu per a ell. En Christian ens explica que el clima, aquí a Espanya, és molt millor que en Ghana, especialment comparat a la calor i la humitat. També ha fet nous amics, ha canviat d’escola i ha après a viure amb una rutina diferent. Li agrada estudiar aquí, encara que el català li resulta complicat, mentre que el castellà li sembla més senzill. A més, ja domina l’anglès i l’akan, i fins i tot sap una mica de francès.
Tot i els reptes, en Christian afronta cada dia amb ganes d’aprendre i adaptar-se. Troba a faltar la seva família i vida a Ghana, però sap que aquesta experiència és una oportunitat per créixer i construir el seu futur.
Among all the new students in this 2024-2025 school year, there is Christian, better known by his friends as Opoku. He is a boy who has recently arrived to Catalonia from Ghana, because his father and brother live here, and he has the opportunity to study and gain valuable knowledge that will help him build a better life.
He tells us that, although his adaptation experience has not been very bad, it has not been perfect either. He sees this country as a nice place, with a good atmosphere and friendly people. However, he does not feel completely comfortable. He met someone who, after living here for six months, was unable to adapt and ended up returning home. Christian does not want this to happen to him.
Compared to Ghana, Christian notices big differences. He explains that here everything is more organized and clean, while in his country, despite having positive aspects, the infrastructure needs improvement. He has also noticed that, although Ghana is rich in natural resources like gold, many citizens suffer from economic difficulties due to poor management and foreign exploitation, especially by international companies.
Also, the change in the environment has been significant for him. Christian tells us that the climate here in Spain is much better than in Ghana, especially compared to the heat and humidity of his home country. He has also made new friends, changed schools, and learned to live with a different routine. He enjoys studying here, although Catalan has been difficult for him, whereas Spanish seems easier. In addition, he is already fluent in English and Akan and even knows a little French.
Despite the challenges, Christian faces each day with a desire to learn and adapt. He misses his family and life in Ghana, but he knows that this experience is an opportunity to grow and build his future.
